Definitions

Kingdom Law needs to be updated to account for changes to SCANZ's constitution.

SCA

  1. SCA US Inc. means the Society for Creative Anachronism Inc. Incorporated, incorporated in California, USA. Use proper name of org
  2. SCA Ltd means the Society for Creative Anachronism Ltd, the company representing the SCA in Australia.
  3. SCANZ means the Society for Creative Anachronism (New Zealand) Incorporated.
  4. SCA means the collection of affiliated organisations which includes SCA US Inc., SCA Ltd and SCANZ.

Lochac

  1. Lochac means the Kingdom of Lochac:, a branch of the SCA which encompasses all SCA activities and groups within Australia and New Zealand.
  2. In this document, "kingdom" or "the kingdom" shall also be understood to mean the Kingdom of Lochac unless clearly noted otherwise.

Laws

  1. "Law" or "Laws" used without qualifiers means the Law or Laws of the Kingdom of Lochac; i.e. this document.

Corpora

  1. Corpora means the Corpora of the SCAUSInc., one of the governing documents of the SCA US.SCA Inc. It contains the policies governing historical re-creation within the SCA.

Member

  1. A member is a subscribing member of the SCA Ltd or SCANZ or a formally affiliated organisation. Do we also mean event members?

Seneschal

  1. Unless specifically stated otherwise Seneschal means the Lochac Kingdom Seneschal. Have specified throughout. Either include definition of a seneschal or remove.

Registrar

  1. Registrar means the registrar of SCA Ltd or of SCANZ as applicable. This term does not appear anywhere else in the document

Pegasus

  1. Pegasus is the official newsletter of Lochac, the SCA Ltd and SCANZ.

Kingdom newsletter

The official kingdom newsletter of Lochac, the SCA Ltd and SCANZ is Pegasus.

Kingdom website

  1. The kingdom website is lochac.sca.org

Mail

  1. Unless specifically stated otherwise, the term mail includes email and postal mail. This term does not appear anywhere else in the document

Official event

  1. An official event means an SCA event as defined in the Corpora. of the SCA US.

Steward

  1. Steward means the subscribing member of the SCA who is the person responsible for an official event.

Sovereign

  1. Sovereign means the contestant of Crown Tournament who fought and won, and was subsequently crowned as King or Queen. To allow for non-combat tournament formats.

Consort

  1. Consort means the person who entered Crown Tournament with the person who won Crown Tournament and was subsequently crowned as King or Queen.

The Crown

The Crown means the Sovereign and Consort of Lochac, acting together

Royal titles

The King/Queen/Crown

  1. The titles "King", "Queen" and "Crown" are reserved for the Sovereign and/or Consort.

Crown Prince/Crown Princess

  1. The titles "Crown Prince" or "Crown Princess" are reserved for the Royal Heirs.

Regents

  1. Regents are the persons who administer the affairs of the kingdom if the Crown is unable to reign.

Royal Heirs

  1. Royal Heirs means the winner of the most recent Crown Tournament and their consort, who have been granted the title of Crown Prince or Crown Princess but who have not yet been crowned King or Queen.

Governing documents of the SCA

The governing documents of the SCA in Lochac shall be, by order of precedence:

  1. Real-world law.
  2. The Constitutions of the SCA Ltd and/or the Rules of SCANZ, as applicable.
  3. The SCA Ltd-SCANZ, SCA Ltd-SCA US Inc. and SCANZ-SCA US Inc.operating agreements.
  4. SCA Ltd and/or SCANZ corporate policies, as applicable.
  5. The Corpora of the SCA US Inc. .
  6. SCA US Inc. Officers' policies, as approved by the Board of SCA US Inc., except those specifically excluded by the operating agreements between SCA Ltd and/or SCANZ and SCA US Inc. .
  7. The Laws of the Kingdom of Lochac (this document).
  8. Governing documents or written policies of Kingdom Officers, approved by the Crown and Kingdom Seneschal, and Board of SCA Ltd and Committee of SCANZ. What is the position of officer policies approved by the Board & Committee, as they are our equivalent to society officer policies? Decide on consistent capitalisation for kingdom officer.
  9. The Word of the Crown.
